Daughter of smoke and bone by Laini Taylor

Seventeen year-old Karou lives two lives. To her human friends she is merely a tattooed, blue-haired, art student living in Prague, but in her secret life she is errand girl and ward of Brimstone, a Chimaera and magician who lives 'Elsewhere' but prevents Karou from truly knowing his world. Karou has grown up feeling not quite whole, asking questions which Brimstone refuses to answer, until the doors to her secret world begin to close and she must choose whether to accept a human existence or seek knowledge and wholeness in the much more dangerous world she has only partly experienced. A well written novel with plenty of action and romance, and an interesting take on the popular 'Fallen Angel' fantasy genre.
